Day 48 Colossians 2:16-19

“Tradition of Men!”
“So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. For these rules were only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself. Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And don’t let anyone say you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this. These people claim to be so humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud. But they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For we are joined together in his body by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.” (Colossians 2:16-19)
“So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new-moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.” We live in a time of spirit and in truth. It is in Gods Word states that we should not condemn anyone who holds certain days or holidays as holy. “For these rules were only shadows of the real thing, Christ himself. Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on self-denial. And don’t let anyone say you must worship angels, even though they say they have had visions about this.”
“These people claim to be so humble, but their sinful minds have made them proud.”  We must understand that we are all the body of Christ. We each have a part of the body that we operate in. I knew of many who have been mislead by teaching that were false. Many filled with pride because they Worshiped the Lord on a certain day or named their Church a certain name which gave them authority and power. Through all these things, people must understand it is just a shadow of who Christ truly is. “But they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For we are joined together in his body by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.” Do not feel condemned by man, but renewed by the Spirit o the Lord. Never let the Truths of man way against, because it is the Lord that ultimately will judge your heart.

Day 43 Romans 4:18-21

“Against All Hope”

“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead – since he was about a hundred years old – and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” (Romans 4:18-21)
“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” When everything around him seemed hopeless, Abraham stood fast on God’s promise to him. I know there are many of us who are in this kind of situation. We have envisioned or received the word of the Lord that tells us we are destine to do something great, but or current circumstances dictate differently.  “Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead – since he was about a hundred years old – and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.” Abraham was hundred years old and knew he wasn’t getting any younger and to add insult to injury, his wife Sarah was about the same age as well. Long pass child bearing years by all standards, Abraham believed in the Word of the Lord. In this life, we face many trails. I know for many of us, we are facing a situation where it seems impossible for God to work things out, but Glory be unto God who is worthy to be praised. God will make a way out of no way,  But it is by our Faith that we are judged.
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.” Abraham did not waver in his Faith in the Lord. I know it is hard to praise him through the storm, but for those who are faithful, the promises that the Lord put into your life is waiting. Against all hope, we are called to have faith.

Day 37 Hebrews 11:1-3

“Faith Hoped For!”

“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.  God gave his approval to people in days of old because of their faith. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11:1-3)

Someone asked me the other day what does it truly mean to have faith? If I was to define what it means, could I find the true definition? “What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.”  When it comes to faith, we are all called to have confidence and assurance in what we hope. The true key to faith is not the word itself, but the word “Hope.” In these times, when you hear the word hope used, it usually means that it is not going to happen. If there is any word that is ever used out of context, it would be the Word Hope. If we look back in Hebrews 6:19, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure…” When you have something anchor, it isn’t moving, especially if it is firm and secure! Just think what a difference of live we would have if we were anchored to the word of the Lord, then you would understand what it means to have true hope and faith!
.
“By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” Creation is the greatest gift given to us from God, because it is a constant reminder of who God is. Think about it, when you wake up, do you hope to see the sky, sun and land? Nope, we go to sleep every night having faith that the world will be the same as it was the day before.
.
Now hold that thought, we sleep every night with that eternal hope that the world will be in the same in the morning. Now just think about what would happen if we had that same faith with word of God! If we prayed at night and woke the next day to see our faith manifested, Beloved it is a powerful thought, but we have a powerful and mighty God. When the word says, “Faith is the things Hoped for,” this means that when you hope, it will come to pass. Let today be the day that you believe in the Word of the Lord. Letting not things be called chance and luck, but Hope and Faith. The power of Hope will anchor you deeply into true Faith.

Day 17 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

“Through it All, Love!”

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud  or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.  It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.  Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud  or rude. Love does not demand its own way.” I know many people are familiar with this scripture about Love. Even as you read over it, most believer feel this is a standard of Love that is only met by God and with this thought do not heed what the scripture is stating. I have found with the Word of the Lord isn’t a suggestion, it is direction. In this verse, God is stating the guidelines of Love which is universal to all Believers. I used to fall into the trap of reacting one way when I was around other Christians and a different way when I was around none believers. For example, if I was in the church parking lot and someone cut me off, I would smile, wave and say God Bless you and not think twice about it. But, If I were on the freeway and someone did the same thing, I would honk my horn in a sign of frustration. “Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.” I have committed certain daily prayers in my lie, one being that I walk in the fullness of Christ from day to day. I know this is a huge undertaking, but it is a standard of living that is second to none, for Christ came to be the perfect example in the flesh. I may have to fight day to day to walk in this kind of Love, but this is my sincere commitment to Christ.
.
“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” Let Love reign over you today. Over faith, over Hope; even Paul said that Love is the greatest of them all, because it endures every circumstance. I don’t care what situation you are facing today, because the Word of the Lord says when you walk in Love, you can endure and overcome whatever comes against you. In this world, all we have is the Word of the Lord and His Word is Love.

Day 15 Romans 8:12-15

“Spirit of Life!”

“Therefore, Brothers, we have an Obligation- But it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father.”(Romans 8:12-15)

“Therefore, Brothers, we have an Obligation- But it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.” I know for many, coming into the life of Christ is not only a mental adjustment, but a physical one to. I know for myself, I lived life by my flesh. If I felt I needed something dearly, I went out and brought it. But when you come into Christ, you find that there is a struggle for what the flesh wants and what the Spirit wants. A common example of this is simply reading the Word of the Lord daily. Some, may plan to read the bible ten minutes a day, but when morning comes around you find you are to busy or that you feel tired or just do not have time. Where the Spirit craves to receive, the flesh simply finds a way out. “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” We are called to be led by the Spirit of the Lord. Living a life by the flesh or sinful nature only brings death. We have life in Christ Jesus and not only that we are sons and daughters of the most High God!
.

“And by him we cry, Abba, Father.” Some may wonder by whom that we cry Abba or Father? It is the same Spirit that leads us into all truth and life. It is by him the Holy Spirit that we call upon God as our Father.

Day 13 1Peter 1:12-13

“A Reminder”

.

“I plan to keep on reminding you of these things-even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth.  Yes, I believe I should keep on reminding you of these things as long as I live.”(1 Peter 1:12-13)

.

“I plan to keep on reminding you of these things-even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth” A long time ago, while I was praying and reading the Word of the Lord, God started to speak to me. I had yet started to write these daily devotionals and at the time that he put it on my heart that I should. After awhile of God urging me to move forward, I simply told the Lord that why should I write devotionals when there are a million and one other people who are already writing them daily? Then that is when God said to me, “you aren’t the millionth and two and there is something inside of you that has never been inside of anyone else!” Taken back by this statement, it took me a long while to understand what God was talking about. No man is alike, even thought you may have a twin or someone similar to you, you are still you. God has blessed us with life because we have purpose. If God can make millions of different animals on the earth to serve a purpose, how much more do we as His children have a greater destiny?
.
“Yes, I believe I should keep on reminding you of these things as long as I live.” I believe this to be true, because sometimes through the struggle and trails, we simply forget the promises of God. As long as my lungs have breath and my spirit within this body, I will preach the Word of the Lord. God has blessed us with everything we need, so this should be a reminder of His Love to the Body of Christ.

Day 10 Philemon 1:6-7

“Generous in Faith”

.

“You are generous because of your faith. And I am praying that you will really put your generosity to work, for in so doing you will come to an understanding of all the good things we can do for Christ.  I myself have gained much joy and comfort from your love, my brother, because your kindness has so often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.” (Philemon 1:6-7 NLT)
.
“You are generous because of your faith. And I am praying that you will really put your generosity to work.” Amen! I thank God that by our Faith, we can have abundance! Jesus spoke that with a mustard seed of Faith, you can move mountains! And the Best Part of this all is that our Faith is measured by our Belief. If we believe that God spoken Word will not come back Void, then what could stop us from receiving everything that we prayed for? We have access to the greatest power source ever and God says all we have to do is Have Faith. But with this Faith, we are not blessing ourselves, but others. “And I am praying that you will really put your generosity to work.” Most people when they think of using their Faith, they believe that it is supposed to be used for themselves. But as Paul is writing here, we are called to put it work on others, “for in so doing you will come to an understanding of all the good things we can do for Christ.” By being generous in our Faith with others, we are drawing near to the understanding of Christ! Blessed is the person who whose does the will of the Father! By sharing our Faith, we are taking on the position of our Father in Heaven.
.
To further understand this, Paul writes, “I myself have gained much joy and comfort from your love.” But isn’t that true? I know when I started doing these daily devotional, my intention was on Faith I would follow what the Lord put on my heart. But after awhile, I started receiving emails from many people who were truly blessed by the daily scriptures and for many; it was the only word they would receive that day. Beloved, we must understand that in these times that encouragement to the body of Christ is crucial. You never really know whose lives will be changed by just sharing the Word of the Lord. Just like Paul stated, I receive much Joy and Comfort from the Love of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are touched by the Word of the Lord. “Your kindness has so often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.” If today, I can help to refresh the Heart of one person in the Body of Christ, then my Generosity of Faith has no gone unrewarded. We are all in this Fight of Faith together. Open your heart to and share the word of the Lord to someone who needs it, because when you are generous to other, you as a Disciple draws closer to Christ.

Day 6 John 14:15-17

“Truth Shall Set you Free!”

“”If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor,* who will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.”(John 14:15-17)

“If you love me, obey my commandments.” For everyone who does not know the commandments that Jesus left; “you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.”(Mark 12:30:31) and “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”(Matthew 28:19) These are the greatest of the commands that Christ left to us to follow. But, Jesus knew that for us to accomplish these great things, we could not do it alone. Even though he was going to ascend to heaven, he promised to send another who would help us in completing these commandments. “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you.” With this, Our Hearts should rejoice! For not only did Jesus leave us a great counselor to work wonders in this world, but he being the Holy Spirit, will be with us and will never leave! Beloved, I believe in the Word of the Lord. I have heard people and pastor speak of foolish things about the Holy Spirit. How only some may have access to him or that it was only for the disciples to receive. I am one who truly believes that it is by your Faith that you shall receive and if you limit the Word of the Lord, how much more so will you limit the workings of God in your Life?
.
“He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” We live in a time where truth is promised every where we turn. Everyone has the magic answer to cure all the pains or end all your sufferings. I lean not to any of these understandings and not even my own, but the Word of the Lord. Jesus said that it through the Holy Spirit that leads into all truth. There is no great secret, the Word of the Lord is tells us where truth shall be found. Believe and Receive the Holy Spirit, because Jesus himself said that the truth shall set you free.

Day 5 Matthew 21:28-30

“A Time to Serve!”
.
A man with two sons told the older boy, `Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’ The son answered, `No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway. Then the father told the other son, `You go,’ and he said, `Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go. Which of the two was obeying his father?” (Matthew 21:28-30 NLT)
.
Awhile back, I was speaking to a man who was having issues with his Spiritual Life. For many years, He felt like he would answer the altar call and run up to the Preacher to be prayed over that he may answer the Calling of the Lord, only to fall back into the same sinful life during the week and Finding himself the Following Sunday at the same altar Call. He was at his wits end believing for a time that maybe the Call of God was not in him.
.
Beloved, He has not forsaken you. I know there are many today who have this same issue. I know for years I struggle with the same Life Style of living what we call a Double Standard Life; living a life of sin on Saturday and being saved on Sunday. As you have read here in Matthew, the Father asked the older son if he would go work in the Vineyard and he said No. How many times did God Call you to work in the Harvest for him and even though you said yes, your actions said no.
.
Understand this, Even though the older Son said No, it wasn’t that he didn’t want to work in the Fathers Vineyard, but he actually thought about the cost and the commitment it would take for him to get the Job Done and finally changed his answer to yes and work in the Vineyard! As we read on, what happened to the younger son that said yes? He made the decision in the moment and didn’t do the Fathers Will. Which Son do you think the Father favored? The One that weighed the cost and when the time was right worked in the Fathers Vineyard.
.

Brothers and Sisters of the Faith, we must understand that this is your walk with Christ. Jesus himself said that we are called at different times to work in his Field, but paid the same wages. If you read further in Matthews 21:31 Jesus says, “I assure you, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do. I know many of us struggle and God knows this. You may not be living a life of a prostitute; But Jesus was trying to make a point. Even though you struggle with sin, keep the Word of the Lord in your Heart. We are all called to do the Will of the Lord. We all have a Calling and Destiny. Maybe you have been saying no your whole life, but you still have the chance to say yes and work in the Fathers Vineyard.
