“Who Are You!”

“And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” And Adam said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” (Genesis 3:8-11)

Who are we? In today’s society we are consistently changing what it means to be apart of Humanity. All it takes is a 5 minutes of looking at the different ads and products around us to see what the world thinks of us. Ads telling you that you should wear more make up, drink more alcohol to have fun or take more medication to relieve those unwanted emotions. And all of these things are done in the name of advancing yourself to a state of fulfillment. But the truth is that we have created a reality that has drawn us away from what it means to have fulfillment, to a life that see lack when we view ourselves. “And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.”

Now, why did Adam and Eve Hide from God in the Garden? They both ate of the fruit of the tree that the Lord their God said they were not to eat of. I liken this to today’s society. We today eat the fruit of deception in our own lives daily. We buy into more and more of the worlds reality for us than what it truly means to be Son’s and Daughters of the Most High God. Our identities since that day in the Garden have been lost within the lie that was feed to us. “But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” It has always struck me how God with His all knowing power would call out and ask Adam where He was. It wasn’t that God wanted to know where Adam was, God spoke so Adam could realize what He had done. “And Adam said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” Let this be understood by all, the First emotion that Adam listed as to why He did not come to God was that He was Afraid. We must understand that when fear is a reason why people want to survive in this life. If you speak to anyone about why they do what they do, it is usually because of fear. We fear being homeless, losing our job, not having money, not having a home and it is because we are afraid of so many things, we let that fear lead us into nakedness or lack in which we hide ourselves from by doing what we think will solve the problem.

God said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” Now understand this, who told you that you are naked? Who is telling you that you are poor, sick or ugly? God says that it is the Fruit of the Word that brings life, so what tree are you eating from? If we are to Break this chains of Lost Identity, then it must start with us. Know who God has Called you to Be and gain back that identity that God has Called for you in Christ Jesus.
